Perspectives: why should we be planting more trees?

We are very proud of the team forgetting stuck in yesterday, volunteering to support Surrey County Council’s goal of planting 3,750 trees in just 3 days!

Tree planting is a fantastic way to give back to nature, and to offset some of the carbon expended during our business operations. It was also an incredibly enjoyable activity that was a surprisingly good team-building activity too – who knew it took so many people to plant a tree!

Carbon offsetting plays an important role in addressing climate change by helping to compensate for greenhouse gas emissions that cannot yet be completely eliminated. Through investments in projects such as reforestation (tree planting), renewable energy, and energy efficiency initiatives, carbon offsetting supports the reduction or removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

While it should not replace efforts to reduce emissions at their source, offsetting can be a valuable part of a broader sustainability strategy, helping businesses and individuals take responsibility for their environmental impact and contribute to global climate goals.

At Quarry Architects, our sustainability team is also actively taking action to reduce emissions at source, as well as participating in ‘offsetting’ activities.
